Influence is the capacity to affect others in such a way that it forces them to follow us and adapt to it. Influence provokes change, makes things happen. So it is very important to be best selves and influence our children and people around us.
Children learn watching us on a day-to-day basis and learn, try to follow us, and practice to be like us. Being an example is a better way to influence them. Influencing can bring a positive change and make them more confident and make better choices. It can help them to be more secure and handle any challenges as they grow.
We get so caught up with work and earning a livelihood that we forget to spend quality time with family and kids. We always think school is the only learning place and forget to check what impact we are making on kids. We often do not notice what they are learning from us. Does it have a positive or negative effect on them? So it is really important to be a great influencer.
Work, life, balance is very important. Show them how you manage work and also make time to be part of their life, how disciplined you can be.
Be responsive and attentive to your children, share and learn with them. Talk about their interests, provide or listen to insights. Have a healthy debate about topics that can help them to learn different aspects. Encourage to learn new things, to be innovative, and to come up with ideas.
Friends have a great impact on children when growing up, it can be both positive or negative impacts. Have a friendly chat about their friends, talk about possible bad influence friends can have. And teach them how to be safe and take correct decision when some one try to influence them to bad path.
Encourage them to build good habits like reading books, keeping up with current affairs, help them to identify their passion and follow it. Teach them about finance management. Talk about life milestones, challenges that come up and that you faced, and how you handled them. Be honest and teach the same.
“The choices you make now, the people you surround yourself with, they all have the potential to affect your life, even who you are, forever.”– Sarah Dessen
Everything we do has an effect on children like, how we socialize, how we respect and show gratitude to others, how we follow our culture and tradition, eating healthy, exercising and maintaining healthy habits, everything affects children as they see us and follow us. Let’s influence them to be the best and grow up as more confident and better individuals.
